I’m kind of piggy backing on my previous blog posts about choosing your ideal location BUT since I did this as part of my Tip Tuesdays on Instagram and TikTok I wanted to elaborate a little more!

I highly suggest choosing either your location or your outfits first…then coordinating everything else around that choice.
If you have a location that holds a special place in your heart or has a special meaning to you then use that location as inspiration to plan your outfits.
Or if you have an outfit that you just adore and love how you feel wearing it; then choose a location that fits that outfit.
For example, if you find a green maxi jumpsuit or romper that is a must wear for your portraits…then I would not suggest choosing a location with a lot of green in it. For that outfit I would suggest something more urban or city.
If you have your heart set on a beach location I would find outfits that fit that location. For beach sessions vibrant colors truly pop against the white of the sand and the blue in the water. Orange/rust, red, deep blues and greens, those are perfect colors for a beach session. Flowy dresses and skirts are also perfect for beach sessions! I would avoid wearing white or khaki because those colors blend in a little too much.
So when you’re planning your senior portraits or family session I would first choose which means the most to you: the outfit or the location?
