Today is the last day of a very heavy year. 2020 will be in history books that our children will study about. We lived through it.
I know that 2021 isn’t going to solve all of the problems we’ve faced in 2020 but I know that for me, 2021 is a year that brings hope and change and a fresh start.
With that being said…I want to look back on all of the beautiful people I’ve been able to photograph during this historic time. Family Sessions, High School Senior sessions, branding sessions…I am so beyond thankful for every single soul who got in front of my camera lens.
During this pandemic family and high school senior photography took on a whole new meaning for me. I just kept thinking about the families that weren’t able to all be together. How sweet it would be for them to receive prints of their loved ones…or to receive their family member’s online gallery to download their favorite images. It deepened my love for photography and the meaning behind portraits.
The class of 2020, the high school seniors, they were robbed of their final dances, their graduation ceremony, their end of high school parties. Things that are a big deal to 17 year olds who have spent the past 4 years working their little tails off to graduate, who want to celebrate their accomplishment. High school senior portraits were one of the few things they were still able to do. Again, the importance of photography hit me in the heart.
