Lifestyle photography is defined as “a kind of photography which mainly aims to capture people in situations, real-life events or milestones in an artistic manner, and the art of the everyday.” But the reason I love lifestyle photography or storytelling photography is because it captures real moments and emotions; moments that show connection, love, and what family is really all about. Instead of just documenting the passage of time I love documenting the everyday details of the life that is being lived at that time.
Please don’t get me wrong; I love going to a beautiful location and capturing families loving each other and having fun. In those sessions I incorporate lifestyle as well as posed portraits. But in-home lifestyle sessions…those are emotionally meaningful to me. I love documenting the way a family interacts in their own space; children are more natural and relaxed. I love documenting what their home looked like and the children’s bedrooms and toys. I love all of these things because when the children grow up they have these images that revive details in their memories that might have faded with time. Even with couples in-home lifestyle sessions are amazing because they capture the details of their first apartment, their first home, or just wherever their place of home is at that time in their life. If you have any hesitation about an in-home lifestyle session please message me! I’m more than happy to go over any of your worries or concerns. 🙂
