Fishhawk, FL Family Session

September 16, 2017

After 1 week of stressing out about hurricane Irma and then another week cleaning up after the storm I was finally able to jump back into photography! I will be honest…the week leading up to landfall was emotionally draining. Thinking and considering that a category 5 hurricane could hit the west coast near Tampa Bay and then possibly be a category 4 when it crossed the inland counties where my family and I live was terrifying. I have been scared of bad weather my whole life; as a toddler any time I heard the “beep beep” on TV that meant they were displaying a message on the bottom of the screen (weather related) I would run into the living room, point at the TV, and demand “read to me!” to my mother.  As I’ve grown up I still have the fear of bad weather but I handle it better. Even with the possibility of a catastrophic storm hitting near my home I think I handled my fear better than I ever have. I was as prepared as I could possibly be given the circumstances but mentally and emotionally I was exhausted. I literally couldn’t think of anything else…my photography was pushed to the back of my mind for a moment there due to the mental freak out I was having.

But Hurricane Irma is gone and I am ready to dive back in!

I’m so glad I got to meet this adorable family of three tonight. I found out that they are actually from Ukraine but they’ve lived in Florida for a few years now.  They were so sweet and even though it was almost 90 degrees at 6:30 in the afternoon with bugs out in full force they did not complain.

This couple was actually one of my model families; when I placed the model call I stated that I would give them 5 digital images in exchange for allowing me to use their images for my portfolio. Of course there were more than 5 that I loved and I shared my favorites with them. It meant so much to me that she was so grateful that I sent her more than the amount she expected. I love being able to surprise clients with a little something extra. ♥

"A father loves completely, gives quietly, teaches gently, and inspires deeply." As a photographer I have to do my best to stay up to date with social media. I chose to focus on Instagram over Facebook simply because I liked it more. But lately I've been struggling to get on social media at all...I've just kind of wanted to disconnect a little. I'm doing my best to get back into the swing of things in regards to sharing all of my gorgeous clients. I've just wanted to take some time to reflect on this business like where I want to take it and how I plan to get there. I've got a lot going on in this mind over here! 🤯 But hey at least my clients are practically super models! 🤩 Happy Saturday!!! I hope everyone has a fun and/or relaxing weekend planned...mine will consist of updating my website and galleries. That's one of the many reasons I love photography; I genuinely love everything that goes with it including the mundane tasks.
P.S. Isn't this family just gorgeous??? 🤩 Something that I enjoy doing during family sessions is focusing on mom and dad; I love capturing the family together; the hugs, kisses, and giggles...but the foundation of a family is the parents. Even if they are step-parents; their relationship is still forming the lives of their children. They are still guiding them through life. So I make them get close and cuddly and let the kiddos giggle or groan in embarrassment...it only makes the parents laugh more! Downtown Plant City has to be my favorite place to photograph. There are so many beautiful areas and its just such a pleasant area to walk around. I'm so thankful to live in such a gorgeous town! One of the BEST parts of being a photographer is getting to photograph childhood friends in their happiest moments. I LOVE this image of one of my best friends with her man; she looks so happy and that smile reminds me of the 8 year old version of her. We went to elementary school together and we've seen each other go through a LOT. Seeing her happy (and being able to document it in pictures) means so much to me. ❤️ "And when all the glitter fades there'll still be stardust in her veins." I've photographed this sweet family 3 times now and each time I adore them more. They are always so sweet and kind; I love when clients become more like friends. Plus she is stunning! This is my favorite image from her birthday session because of her "fierce" look. Trust me when I say that's a hard look to pull off! I always end up looking like a brat but she nailed it perfectly.
